Our Academy here at Surrey Downs has the facilities to match the level of our tuition. We are fast becoming a centre of excellence for golf. Our large grass tee’d driving range, separate teaching area, quality two piece golf balls work perfectly alongside our Academy set up with the comfortable reception area and its large video/ analysis room. Golf lessons are offered with our skilled PGA teaching professionals who use video analysis for you to view your own golf swing. This is reviewed with a PGA instructor and supplied on a DVD for you to take home. Our golf academy is the perfect place to take your game to the next level; not forgetting our Junior Golf Development to bring children’s golf lessons along.

Junior Golf Development

Juniors from the ages of 6 – 16 can take part in our Junior Golf Development which consists of an 8 week course of tuition in golf. Each week covers a different aspect of the game from holding your first club to course etiquette.

During the holidays we hold week long golfing kids camps for the juniors that have already done the 8 week course to progress and develop their skills even further. The days are filled with on course golf tuition and a running four day golfing competition. These courses prepare children for their first junior golf membership with a club and gives them all the skills and information they need including technique, golf rules and etiquette.

 

Teachers

Stephen Blacklee – Director of Golf
Stephen became PGA qualified in 1993 and has expanded his teaching experience ever since. After six years he became Director of the David Leadbetter European Headquarters, he is fully versed in the training theories and techniques of probably the most effective teaching professional to date. Stephen now mainly teaches professional golfers, tour players instruction and top amateurs at the Surrey Downs academy who play on numerous golf tours around the world and want the best in a golf coach. Stephens experience and training has been further recognised by the PGA and in 2005 was awarded and ‘advanced PGA professional’ status.

Simon Bates – Teaching Professional
Simon graduated from PGA school in 2005 having worked at the Alison Nicholas Golf Academy for four years. During this time his ability to communicate in depth information in a simple and effective manner have made him a hugely popular golf instructor. Simon’s teaching ability and his advanced Surrey Downs training with Steve Blacklee enable him to coach to the highest standards.

Nick Morris – Teaching Professional
Nick turned professional in 2007 and coaches in the golf academy with Steve and Simon. He has a great rapport with his clients and runs our progressive junior golf from the academy. He adds depth to the high quality teaching facility here at Surrey Downs.
